The information below is provided to answer commonly asked questions and minimize misunderstandings.
Do I have to be a YWCA member to participate in Family Swim?
Do my children and their friends have to be YWCA members?

Do I have to be a YWCA member to participate in Family Swim?

Yes, either you or your spouse who is present with you at the time you wish to participate in Family Swim must be a current YWCA member.

Do my children and their friends have to be YWCA members?

Children may participate in Family Swim as a youth guest of a current YWCA member only if a current, completed and signed Family Swim Minor Participant Waiver is on file with us. You may download the form by clicking here.

When I arrive at the YWCA, do I have to check in before getting in the pool?

Yes! You are required to sign in all swimmers prior to beginning any swimming activities. A Membership Services staff member will be happy to sign you in at the Membership Services desk.

Do I have to pay for Family Swim?

Yes. Our regular drop-in rate is $2 per person. YWCA Members and up to 4 immediate family members have a drop-in rate of $5, and $1 for each additional immediate family member. Alternatively, you may use your Plunge Pass at the rate of one punch per person. There is no fee for infants/toddlers who don't yet swim and will be held by an adult at least 95% of the time while in the water. Tuition assistance is available by application. My 4 year old can't swim yet; can she/he still participate in Family Swim?

Yes; however, children under the age of 5 who cannot swim must be accompanied in the water by a responsible individual during Family Swim

How old does my child have to be to swim without a responsible adult?

Children 8 years and older may participate in Family Swim without an adult, however youth registration forms must be on file in Membership Services prior to child's participation.

What items are allowed in the pool?

Goggles, masks, splash-balls with prior approval from lifeguard only, dive rings and sticks, rubber bath toys (such as rubber duckies, boats, etc).

What items are NOT allowed in the pool?

Floatation devices such as noodles, water wings, swim rings, kick boards, body boards, and similar items; swimsuits with floatation either built in or removable; snorkles; balls (hard rubber, volleyball, soccer, water polo, etc); band-aids; chewing gum; candy; food.

I have an item I'd like to bring and I didn't see it on either list; can I bring it?

Possibly, but please call to get approval first.

All participants must comply with all posted YWCA pool rules and with all YWCA policies and rules.
